Boulder Mountain Clayworks, nestled in Sun Valley, Idaho, is located within easy walking distance of Ketchum and has a view of Baldy Ski Mountain from the glaze room. The Studio is fully equipped for stoneware, porcelain and raku pottery. Boulder Mountain Clayworks has 2,000 sq. ft. With 12 wheels, a slab roller, pug mill extruder and plenty of room for handbuilding. The kiln room contains two large Skutt electric kilns, one for bisque and the other for high fire. The glaze kiln is a 16 cu. ft. Geil downdraft gas kiln. It is all wonderful.

Boulder Mountain Clayworks was established July, 1997 to encourage the development of clay arts within the community by offering classes for children and adults and by sharing with others the skills and insights of Northwestern clay artist through summer workshop programs. Boulder Mountain Clayworks also has communal studio space to share with other clay artists.



CLAY CLASSES AND EVENTS


Adult Workshop - Playing off the Wheel, Tuition - $180 plus cost of supplies.

Majolaine Renfro will be teaching this workshop which focuses on creating one intricate hand-built project. Marjolaine will concentrate on line, space and form. She will also explore double walls, opening doors and combining multiple forms. Not to miss!

Time - 2-4:30 p.m.

Dates - July 15, 16 & 17.

Adult Workshop - From Soup to Nut Bowls, Tuition - $180 plus cost of supplies

Susan Ward will teach you how to make bowls. Bowls from pasta, bowls for peonies, bowls for giving, bowls for recieving. We make bowls on the wheel, over plaster molds, with slabs and by pinching. All are welcome!

Dates - August 5, 6 & 7.

Guest Artist Series: Architecturally Inspired Pots , Tuition - $225 plus materials

Guest Artist and instructor, Dan Anderson, is well known for his architectural clay sculptures influenced by rural and urban structures. He travels all over the world documenting water towers, barns, silos, factories and industrial forms. The results are richly poetic translations that echo the neglected structures that inspire him. In this –hands on” workshop, students will be asked to work with an architectural form that inspires them. Participants should be competent on the wheel.

Adult Clay - Free Form Figures, Tuition - $225.00 plus materials.



Australian Sculptor, Julie Harvey, who will teach this class makes wonderfully fun and large figures . This workshop offers an intensive 2-day exploration of clay. Using coils and slabs to hand build free form figures, students are encouraged to push sculptural boundaries and work large! Open to all skill levels.

Youth Clay Camps - Wiki Wiki Clay for children ages 7-12, Tuition - $125

Zoey Pierce will teach this class and take students on a trip to Hawaii!

Fun on wheels! We will explore round forms, making mugs and bowls. No previous experience necessary.Open to middle school and older.

A $50.00 deposit is required to hold a space for the Camps or the Workshops. If Boulder Mountain Clayworks cancels the Workshop your deposit will be refunded in full. If you cancel and we are able to find someone the take your place in the Workshop your deposit will be refunded less $15 for administrative costs. If we are unable to fill your spot and have turned people away your deposit will not be refunded. Because of financial obligations to our guest instructors no deposits will be refunded if you cancel within two weeks of the workshop.
