DETAILS ON CLASSES
We require a $50 deposit at the time of your registration to hold your place in class. Your deposit will be refunded if the class fails to fill. If you miss a class we will make every effort to get the missed information to you but we have no formal provision for making up a missed class.
Our classes are three hours long and include an additional three hours of studio time per week. The studio time does not accumulate. Prospective students should allow themselves plenty of time to enjoy these classes.
The tuition covers use of the studio.
All students will purchase clay and pay glaze firing fees.
We consider anyone 18 or older an adult.
WORKSHOPS
CLAY SURFACES
Having one's way with
slips on greenware.
Taught by guest artist Jullia Galloway

- Julia Galloway,
Head of the Art Department, University of Montana in Missoula. |
"It is the responsive
nature of clay that
continues to interest
me... it responds to
your touch, then you
respond to it."
|
This is a "hands on" weekend workshop with a focus on the
surface of the just thrown pot. Julia will guide the participants
in reading their pots and spending more time on enriching the
surface lives of their vessels.
How and when to embellish? What and when to use slips? The whole world of textures will be investigated. The students are invited to bring their own greenware or use the studio to throw a few pieces before the workshop begins. Please google Julia Galloway for more information.

Treasure boxes: small boxes for big concepts, for grand designs and for secret dreams. That a mere box could harbor all those unspoken ideas is the challenge of this weekend workshop. Marjolaine, a local artist, has invested these boxes with her dreams and history. She will share her perspective, history and process with the participants and they will construct their own box. Bisque firing is included in the workshop.

...Design, dye and print your own silk scarf with noted textile designer, Deb Gelet. Deb has worked in textiles for over four decades. Her fine art textiles are in private collections in the US and Italy. She has trained with famed quilting/textile artist, Jane Dunnewold of ArtCloth Studios, and has taught in Ketchum, Salmon, and Florence, Italy. Techniques for this class include a simple dye process that can be easily replicated by students at home, and a block carving/stamping technique that transfers beautifully to paper.
